The Nigerian Army has extended Operation Ayem Akpatuma, otherwise known as “Cat Race’’ in Taraba State by two months.
It was earlier scheduled to be concluded on March 31.
The extension is to enable it rid the state of militants and other criminals.
This was made known on Monday in a statement by Army spokesman, Brig.-Gen Texas Chukwu.
He also pointed out that the extension was as a result of the calls by Nigerians.
It would be recalled that the exercise was launched in some states including Benue, Taraba, Kaduna, Niger and Kogi to stop the clashes between herdsmen and farmers.
It was also launched to stop other criminal activities in the affected states.
The Army spokesman also called on the people for assistance by giving useful information that would help ensure safety of lives and property.
