Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has called for a nation-wide demonstration on Friday, August 30, against the Indian government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday asked the country’s citizens to come out on the road for half an hour on Friday to show solidarity with Kashmiri people.
Pakistan has been quite vocal about its objection over the decision of the Indian government to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir as well as the continued communication blackout in the region.
Imran Khan took to Twitter and said that Pakistan stood resolutely behind the people of Kashmir.
“I want all Pakistanis to come out tomorrow 12 noon – 12.30 pm to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people and send the Kashmiris in IOK a clear message that the entire Pakistani nation stands in solidarity with them and against the Indian fascist oppression, the inhumane 24-day curfew, the daily injuring and killing of Kashmiri civilians, including women and children – all part of the ethnic cleansing agenda of the Modi government and it’s illegal annexation of IOK,” Imran Khan said in a tweet.
He also tweeted, “The plan to change demography of IOK is a war crime under 4th Geneva Convention. We must send a strong message to Kashmiris that our nation stands resolutely behind them.
“So, I am asking all Pakistanis, for half an hour tomorrow, stop whatever you are doing and come out on the road to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people.”
Pakistan on Thursday said the resolution of the Kashmir issue as per the UN resolutions was its top foreign policy agenda.
Pakistan has been trying to internationalise the Kashmir issue after India abrogated provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution to revoke Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and bifurcated it into two union territories.
India has categorically told the international community that the scrapping of Article 370 was an internal matter and also advised Pakistan to accept the reality.
However, Imran Khan has repeatedly said that he would take up the Kashmir issue at the annual UN General Assembly session next month.
