The independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Simon Lalong, incumbent governor of Plateau State winner of the state governorship election.
Richard Kirmbi, returning officer for the election, announced the result at the INEC head office in Plateau around 4 am on Sunday.
Lalong of the All Progressives Congress, APC, polled a total of 595,582 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Jeremiah Useni, who polled 546,813 votes.

Recall that INEC had declared the March 9 election inconclusive saying the cancelled votes were higher than the margin between the two leading candidates in the election.
The supplementary election held in nine local government areas of the state on Saturday.
