Embattled Senator Dino Melaye on Thursday failed in his bid to force the police laying siege to his Abuja residence out.
Melaye had approached the Federal High Court in Abuja through his lawyer, Nkem Okoro from the Chambers of Mike Ozekhome, for the enforcement of his fundamental human right seeking an order to vacate the building, but the presiding judge, Justice N.E. Maha, refused to grant the motion ex parte.
He, however, ordered that the substantive suit be given accelerated hearing and adjourned to Jan. 14 for hearing.
Recall that the Nigeria Police Force had on Friday, December 28, laid siege to Melaye’s building in a bid to arrest him for alleged culpable homicide in the shooting of a police officer, Sgt. Danjuma Saliu.
The Police through its Spokesman, Jimoh Moshood had declared that its men would not vacate the senator’s residence until he surrendered himself and true to its words, men of the police force had since kept vigil at Melaye’s residence.
