Incumbent Governor of Edo State, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Congress in the Edo governorship election, Godswill Obaseki, has beaten his main challenger in the election , the All Progressives Congress Party (APC) candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu in the last local government of the state.

He garnered 12,659 votes as against 10,636 by Ize-Iyamu from Ovia South West Local Government Areas.

At the end of collation, Obaseki beat Ize-Iyamu with a whopping 84,336 votes having polled a total 307,955 votes while Ize-Iyamu got 23,619 votes.

He is expected to be declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission soon.
