Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has said that the pro-Biafra group led by Nnamdi Kanu, Indigenous People of Biafra, should not be labeled as terrorists group.

According to him, the members of the group were youth who were asking for justice and equity in the Nigerian nation.

Ooni made his position known on Friday when he visited Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

He was in Abia State to celebrate New Yam Festival with the Chairman of the South-East Council of Traditional Rulers, Eberechi Dick.

Said he:  “There is something that is bordering them; there is something that is making them to cry.

“We should not throw them away; we should draw them closer because the youth of this country are the future, the energy; they are the heartbeat of this country.”

He also spoke on the call for restructuring.

He said just like the Igbo, the Yoruba also craved for restructuring to make Nigeria a better place.

“We must chart the course of doing things with positive energy. I want to let you know that you are not alone in this.

“We stand by you positively in a very progressive manner. We stand by you; we all must come together to build a united Nigeria. We don’t want any war; we don’t want any disintegration,” he said.

Ikpeazu who expressed appreciation for the visit, described the Ooni as a traditional ruler who was abreast of current national issues and had contributed his quota to national rebirth.

He said it was necessary for the nation to exploit the potentials that abound for the betterment of the country.

His words:  “I am a firm believer that this country is strong today because of its diversity.

“The problem confronting Nigeria remains the inability to harness the potentials and weld together the diversities to create a strong, united country.”
