The paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty Prof. James Ayatse, has implored the Inspector- General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to rescind his decision you relocate Zone 4 headquarters of the Nigeria Police to Nasarawa state.
The Tor Tiv made this call when he received on courtesy visit, the Assistant Inspector – General (AIG) of Police zone 4, in charge of Nasarawa, Plateau and Benue states, AIG Jackson Jonah Mava, at his Palace in Gboko, Benue state.
The Tor Tiv said there has been speculations making the rounds in the state that the IGP has plans to move the zonal command out of Makurdi.
He urged the IGP not to relocate the command from Makurdi saying such cannot be justified and would amount to playing politics with security of lives of Nigerians.
Prof. Ayatse, however appreciated the AIG for his visit while commending the role of the police in helping to entrench relative peace in the state.

The Tiv paramount ruler also sought the input of traditional rulers in police recruitment exercise to enable them absorb fit and proper persons for the job.
He explained that the role of traditional institution cannot be down played in any society, saying they must be carried along particularly during recruitment as every sons and daughters are very well known to them and those with impeccable character can be recommended for recruitment.
He expressed concerns that the attitude and character of many personnel in the force makes one to worry pointing to the displeasures raised by Nigerians during the EndSARS protest across the country.
He, therefore, assured of the support of the traditional institutions in the state in tackling crimes and criminality.
The AIG zone 4, Mr. Jackson Mava, who extolled the leadership qualities and peaceful disposition of the Tor Tiv, called for more support of the traditional institution in entrenching peace in the country.
The AIG assured him of police commitment towards a crime free society and allayed the fears of the paramount ruler concerning rumour of a planned move to relocate zonal command of the police to Nasarawa.
AIG Mava also visited Gboko area command where he met with officers and men to commend them for their hard work and reassured them that the police IG was working to address the welfare of policemen.
