A non-political group, Association of Concerned Indigenes of Imo State, ACIIS, has expressed confidence in the ability of Nick Opara-Ndudu to solve the socio-economic and political problems of Imo State if voted to power.

Opara-Ndudu is a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State.

The group, according to its spokesman, Zacchaeus Ikwonma, said “the current state of things in Imo State is tantamount to slavery and  only  a  person with purposeful leadership ability can liberate Imo people from the ugly situation.”

Ikwonma said it was for that reason that the group considered Opara-Ndudu worthy of being the governor of the state, and commended him for showing interest.

“In the last seven years, Imo State has been reduced to a fiefdom and run as a private estate to the exclusion of the people for the benefit of family members of the power- that-be and his cronies,” the spokesman said.

He added that in Imo, life had become “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short for the people and it is personalities like Opara-Ndudu the Imolites need to put things right in the state.”

He said ACIIS which is a non-profit organisation was formed to save Imo State from misrule perpetrated by the current administration in the state.

“We are neither aligned nor affiliated to any political organisation. Our objective is to defend Imo, and to rescue Imolites from the clique at the corridor of power. Hence, we resolved in our meeting at the weekend to commend Opara-Ndudu, who we believe can do the job,” the spokesman said.
