The people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State have concluded plans to roll out drums and spread the red carpet in honour of their son, Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The event, which is scheduled to hold on Saturday May 4, 2024, will take place at Ikot Ekpene Sports Stadium by 10 a.m.

A statement signed by the Chairman Central Planning Committee, Elder Friday Iwok and Secretary, Barrister Uyobong Udom, on behalf of the people, states valid reasons the Senatorial District has decided to celebrate their son, Sen. Akpabio.

The statement says Senator Akpabio will be celebrated for positively projecting the senatorial district, Akwa Ibom state and the nation as a whole to the Global Community.

It further states that the decision to celebrate the Senate President is based on his outstanding performance as a Commissioner, Governor, Minister and Senator.

The committee describes Sen. Akpabio as an uncommon representative of the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and Akwa Ibom State, and a nationalist, who has used wisdom to galvanize national support for the Federal Government in an effort to take Nigeria out of the challenging economic/security situations.

According to the statement, the ceremony will be chaired by a former Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Justice Godwin Abraham.

The statement further states that the Itai Afe Annang the 5th, His majesty Obong Blaise Udofia Awakama, will be the Father of the day, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Pastor Umo Eno, is expected as the special guest, while the Minister of Petroleum-Gas, Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo, will grace the occasion as a facilitator.

The statement invites all legislators in the state and national assemblies of Akwa Ibom extraction, serving and past political appointees across party divide, traditional rulers and title holders, in-laws, political associates, friends and well-wishers across the state, to honour the Senate President with their presence at the event.
