Gunmen Attack Ifeanyi Ubah, Policemen, Aides Feared Dead

An unspecified number of persons were reportedly dead as gunmen on Sunday attacked the convoy of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

Emanating from the scene of the attack was a gory video where men in police uniform were seen inside vehicles lying down motionless. Also, two men in civil attires were seen in another vehicle motionless.

According to available information, the attack was carried out by gunmen at Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The gunmen opened fire on the convoy as Ubah, a member of the Young Progressives Party and representative of Anambra South Senatorial District, passed through the town.

The development has been confirmed by the spokesman of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga.

He, however, did not confirm the casualty figure.

Ikenga said: “The Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command, CP Echeng Echeng, has today (Sunday), led police operatives to the scene where sporadic shootings took place in Enug-Ukwu.

“Though the details of the incident are still sketchy, operatives are on the ground there as operations are going on and the situation is being monitored.

“Further details shall be communicated please.”
