“Makinde led his closest rival, Bayo Adelabu, of All Progressives Congress (APC) with over 150,000 votes at the Match 9, governorship election in Oyo State, in an election the opposition disputed and headed to the tribunal, Appeal Court and finally the Supreme Court, where it has been affirmed that Makinde is the real owner of the mandate.

“This mandate was freely given to him and there should not be any dispute in the first place” he said.

While urging the governor to extend an olive branch to the opposition, OSDAG called on the opposition, to accept the verdict in good faith, to avoid unnecessarily distraction to governance. It maintained that the wish of the people could not be upturned.

Ogunsina commended the Supreme Court for not taking to the path capable of setting the State on fire, stressing that a contrary judgment would have snowballed into unimaginable crisis.

He called on the good people of Oyo State to rally round the governor, support his lofty ideas and developmental plans, pointing out that at the end of his first four years, they would see major differences in the areas of agriculture, commerce and industry, healthcare, physical infrastructures, education, security, housing, among others.
