The fight against Boko Haram, on Thursday, got a boost as the governors of the 36 states of the federation approved $1 billion for the cause.
The money is to be withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account by the federal government and the approval was announced at the National Economic Council meeting held in Abuja.

Addressing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, after the meeting, the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, said the approval was announced by the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State.
The Excess Crude Account is said to have a balance of $2.317 billion as at December 13, 2017.
