NiMet predicts cloudy skies, thundery activities on Thursday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather conditions over the central states of the country on Thursday with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Abuja, Lafia, Bida, Ilorin, Jos, Makurdi, Jalingo and its environs in the morning.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Wednesday also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 28 to 37 and 15 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

The agency predicted that the southern states would experience cloudy conditions with chances of isolated thundery activities over Yenagoa, Port-Harcourt, Eket, Calabar and the environs during the morning hours.

It also predicted isolated thunderstorms over most parts of the region later in the day with day and night temperatures in the range of 30 to 35 and 22 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to NiMet, Northern states will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions during the morning hours with day and night temperatures in the ranges of 39 to 44 and 25 to 29 degrees Celsius respectively.

“Isolated thunderstorms is expected over Maiduguri, Yola, Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Zaria, parts of Gusau, Yelwa and its environs during the afternoon and evening hours.

“The Inter Tropical Density (ITD) is above the country with influx of moist winds, chances of isolated thunderstorms are probable over some parts of the country in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicts.
