Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State on Friday took to Twitter to expose a convicted sex offender in his state.

The governor in a tweet on his verified account, @kfayemi, announced that going forward, he would publicly shame convicted sex offenders in Ekiti.

“Today, we commence the naming and shaming of convicted sexual offenders in Ekiti State. #SayNotoRape. JKF,” the tweet read.

The tweet also had the picture of a man identified as Rev. Asateru Gabriel, of St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Ifisin-Ekiti, whom the governor said was serving a five-year jail term at the Federal prison, Ado-Ekiti for a sexual offence.

The tweet received positive reactions. While some people simply commended the governor, otherwise wondered if it was necessary and still other suggested such treatment for public looters.
