Governor Udom Emmanuel has advised the Christian Community to continue to pray for peace and stability in the Akwa Ibom State to be sustained.
Speaking as a special guest at a prayer meeting organized by The Apostolic Mount Olive Church at the Church Camp Ground (Beautiful Gate), along Ikot Abasi -Uyo Road, Ikot Ntot, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, he said prayers of Christians contributed immensely to the success of his administration.
The Governor asserted that the efficacy of prayers in governance cannot be over-emphasized, urging Christian faithfuls not to relent in praying for the state and country.
He stated that no individual can take credit for the peaceful disposition of any community, noting that it was God who divinely exercises authority over the affairs of men to fulfill his purposes.
Emmanuel reteirated that 2019 would be a year for the manifestation of God’s Glory and Power, maintaining that he was not shaken or intimidated by the political scenario playing out in the state.
“I believe that there is nobody that God calls and God does not back up that person. God views things differently from what man sees”, the Governor stated.
The State Chief Executive stressed the need for people to show respect for constituted authority, explaining that the Bible has made it obligatory for individuals to be in subjection to those in leadership positions.
Preaching on the theme of the prayer meeting, “All Powers Belong to God”, drawn from Daniel 2 : 20, the General Overseer of the Church, Apostle David Udo, said that the power of rulership belongs to God, indicating that no human can claim to govern with his own might.
Apostle Udo, who took his sermon from Psalm 62 : 11, stated that God chooses whomever he pleases to govern through his divine directions, adding, “It is our conviction that Governor Udom Emmanuel was divinely chosen by God, so no man has the power to say otherwise.”
The cleric remarked that God does not act in error, explaining that the choice of Emmanuel to lead Akwa Ibom at such a critical period was not a mistake and sued for support for the re-election of the Governor in the upcoming gubernatorial elections.
While expressing hope that the Will of God would prevail in the state, Apostle Udo implored the Governor to exhibit a forgiving spirit towards those who make themselves his enemies.

The event featured prayer for continuous peace, unity and stability in Akwa Ibom State, prayer committing the second term ambition of the Governor to God as well as for the completion of Eight years tenure of Governor Emmanuel.
The Governor was accompanied at the event by the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Nsikan Nkan, Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Reverend Daniel Akwatang and the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Dr. Nathaniel Adiakpan.
