Gov. Emmanuel To Sponsor Over 1, 600 on Skill Acquisition

Governor Udom Emmanuel has announced the sponsorship of 1,643 persons on special skill acquisition programme commencing on Monday, January 28, 2019, at different locations in the state.

Emmanuel made the announcement during the thanksgiving and 50th birthday celebration of the Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority, UCCDA,Mr. Enobong Uwah, at Living Faith Church, aka, Winners Chapel, Ikot Ebido Oku, Uyo.

The Governor said that the Idea behind the sponsorship of the individuals on different aspects of skills acquisition in arts, crafts and technical training, was to ensure development of talents, saying that the training, on completion would provide series of multiplier effects on the economy of the state.

He acknowledged that the economies of most societies, including Nigeria, were anchored on the contributions of small and medium scale enterprises in providing daily needs, adding that such ventures form the foundations for the growth of cottage and mega industries in developing countries.

Governor Emmanuel said that the participants of the programme especially in manufacturing and banking sectors, deserved the encouragement of products consumers by patronizing their outputs, explaining that their initiatives would complement government’s efforts at ensuring that 80% of food consumed in Akwa Ibom are produced in the state.

While congratulating Mr. Uwah on his attainment of the golden age, the State Chief Executive noted that it was expedient to thank God for the numerous blessings we enjoy from him as mortals and prayed for more achievements and blessings for his family.

The celebrator, Mr. Uwah, accompanied by his Wife, Inemesit and children, expressed appreciation to God for his blessings and mercies upon his life in his 50 years of existence, pledging commitment to the service of God and humanity.

Mr. Uwah, who is also the Secretary of the Divine Mandate Organization, appreciated everyone who has impacted his life particularly thanking the Governor for his role in his current disposition and described the Governor as a true man of God.

He commended his immediate family for their patience and understanding during his absence while performing his official duties, he also thanked members of the State Executive Council, the political class, friends and family who supported the event with their presence.

The UCCDA boss expressed conviction on the success of Governor Emmanuel’s re-election and prayed for peaceful elections in the state and country.

In a homily, the State Pastor of the Church, Triumphant Obamoh, stressed the importance of fasting for Christians, saying that it was a spiritual weapon against the yoke of darkness and sued for commitment among followers of Christ.

Reading from Luke 5 : 33, Pastor Obamoh maintained that fervent prayers and fasting facilitates spiritual blessings, divine guidance and health, calling on the Christian community to seize every opportunity to pray while expressing faith in God.
