Former Minister of Information in Sierra Leone, and  University of Pittsburgh, USA, Professor Emeritus, Cecil Blake, is to chair the Special Panel on “Media Narratives as Bridges,” during the 5th Annual Conference  of Communication Scholars & Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN).

The Conference themed, “Media Narratives: Hate Speech, Fake News and Political Stability in Africa” is scheduled to take place from September 5-6, 2018, in Asaba, Delta State.

According to a statement signed by the General Secretary, ACSPN & Dean, College of Social and Management Sciences (COSOMAS), Caleb University, Professor Nosa Owens-Ibie, which was made available to The Next Edition, Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi, Publisher, Premium Times, is expected to anchor a team for the Masterclass on digital literacy, an empowerment session tailored to the needs of participating academics and professionals

The statements said Prof. Blake was enthusiastic about coming to Nigeria for the conference.

The Association of Communication Scholars & Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) is a body committed to advancing the scholarly study and practice of communication by promoting and facilitating the pursuit of excellence in academic research and professional practice in Nigeria.

It aims among other things, to support the process of shaping communication scholarship, training and practice in Nigeria whilst complementing the work of other bodies with similar aims and building on the potentials of the field of communication in Nigeria, conscious of the needs of the country for critical inputs from communication scholars and professionals to shape a future that will promote growth and development.
