FIFA world ranking: Nigeria up one step to 48th as Belgium, France top

Nigeria has moved one step up in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking.

From the 49th position it moved up to 48th.

Belgium and France are at the very top, sharing the number 1 position.

It is the first time that would be happening in the 25-years history of the table.

In the ranking posted on the FIFA official website on Thursday, the Super Eagles got 1415 points to finish 48th in September.

The ranking of the Super Eagles was helped by the victory over Seychelles on September 8.

Nigeria defeated Seychelles 3 – 0 in the qualifying series of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Seychelles went down by one step from 188th to 189th in the rankings.

Libya is in the 99th position; Senegal is in number one position in Africa and 25th in the world.

It has 1492 points to retain the position.

DR Congo is second and Morocco, third in Africa.

While DR Congo is 40th in the world, Morocco is 45th.

Brazil, Croatia and Uruguay are in the top five.

In the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th positions respectively are England, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain and Denmark.
