The Federal Government of Nigeria has commiserated with the family of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Richard Akinjide, who passed on, on Tuesday.
A statement issued and signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha, said that late Akinjide would always be remembered for his contributions to law reforms and jurisprudence in Nigeria.
“Members of the Federal Executive Council condole with the members of the Akinjide family on the passing away of Chief Osuolale Abimbola Richard Akinjide, which sad event occurred on Tuesday, 21st April, 2020 at the age of 89.

“Chief Richard Akinjide, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) was a foremost Nigerian Lawyer and a frontline Politician, who became Minister of Education in the first Republic under Prime Minister Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and the second Republic Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice under President Shehu Shagari.
“Late Chief Akinjide will always be remembered for his contributions to legal reforms, jurisprudence and development in Nigeria.
“The Federal Executive Council prays that the Almighty God shall grant members of his family the fortitude to bear this loss. May his soul rest in peace,” the statement said.
