The Lagos State Police Command has taken 21-year-old Precious Anegbode into custody over the alleged fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, identified simply as Damilola in the Ijegun area of the state.

Sources revealed that Anegbode had paid a visit to Damilola’s residence last Friday, a meeting that soon spiraled into a heated exchange.

What began as a verbal confrontation reportedly escalated into a violent altercation.

A local resident, who chose to remain anonymous, recounted that the couple’s argument grew alarmingly intense, drawing the attention of neighbours. Moments later, chaos turned to tragedy when Anegbode allegedly seized a knife during the fracas and fatally stabbed Damilola.

“We don’t know what led to the quarrel between both of them. We only heard them shouting and the next thing we heard the lady was wailing. When we got to their room, we saw the lifeless body of her boyfriend on the floor,” the source said.

Another resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that neighbours quickly rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“Some of the neighbours took the corpse to the hospital while others prevented the lady from running away. When they got to the hospital, the doctors on duty confirmed him dead.

“Then we later went to the police station to report the incident, and returned with some officers who came to take the lady away,” the resident added.

When reached for comment, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, noting that it was reported to the police around 11:30 a.m. on the same day.

He said, “The victim was rushed to Igando General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. The nearest police station, Igando Division, was contacted, and the suspect was arrested.

“Further investigation revealed that the incident occurred in another area of responsibility, and the case was referred to Isheri Oshun. Patrol and DCB teams were mobilised, and the suspect was detained at the Igando Division. The victim’s corpse was deposited at the Igando General Hospital mortuary.”

He added, “Photographs were taken, and the scene of the incident was visited. The knife used in the stabbing was recovered, and blood stains at the scene were documented.

“The suspect made confessional statements under caution. The case file and suspect exhibit will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for discreet investigation.”
