Federal Government has said that 32, 361 paramilitary officers have Been moved to their next ranks following their promotion examination by the Civil Defence Immigration, Correctional and Fire Service Board supervised by the federal Ministry of Interior.
Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced while briefing the press of the development, yesterday in Abuja.
Tasking the promotees to reciprocate the gesture by re-dedicating themselves to the Service of the country, he described the promotion as unprecedented, especially in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), where out of 25,351 personnel who sat for promotion examinations, 21,381 personnel were promoted to their next ranks.
Represented by the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi, the minister notes the important role played by President Bola Tinubu in the speedy approval of the promotion, the minister said this is in line with his commitment to the welfare of all personnel serving the country in various institutions.
For the Nigeria Immigration Service, (NIS), he said 6,544 sat for examinations out of which 4,598 got promotion, while 1, 680 were promoted in the Federal Fire Service out of 1698 who sat for examinations.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo also gave the promotion breakdown of the Correctional Service, (NCoS), as 4, 498 promoted out of over 7,000 who sat for the examinations.
Present at the meeting were the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCOS, Haliru Nababa and the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Immigration, Fire and Correctional Services Board, Alhaji Ahmed Ja’afaru.
