A man, Samuel Sunday, has been arrested by the police in Bayelsa State for allegedly killing two of his children.
The suspect was arrested along with his brother, Aya Preye, for allegedly giving the children Sniper. Sunday was said to have poisoned his three children but one of them survived.
The survivor, Godstime, yesterday said it was his father and dad’s brother who gave them the Sniper which killed his two brothers. The victims, Success (14) and Miracle (12), died after taking the poison in Yenagoa.
Godstime said: “Our father and his brother tied three of us and gave us Sniper to drink.

“I was told that my brothers are dead I am the only one that survived.”
It was learnt that Sunday and his wife (the mother of the children), are divorced but the three children were living with their grandmother before the incident.
The state Commissioner of Police, Aminu Saleh, who paraded the suspect and his accomplice, said before the eldest son could be rescued the others had died.
Saleh told journalists that the tragic story of the children and their father started in 2018. He said: “A certain medicine man in their village told him that the children were responsible for his sickness, while that was going on they have been branded as wizards by their villagers.
“They have been brutally abused by the whole community, and have been called all kinds of names.
The commissioner urged parents, religious leaders and community leaders to be on the lookout for their children, and not to subject them to unnecessary hardship. Narrating his side of the story, Sunday said he was arrested yesterday after he went to the village to pick his children for a church programme. He said he gave one of his brothers, now at large, N1,000 for transportation to take the children back to the village.
