Dr. Charles Amadi, a policy consultant with Nigeria Social Contract Initiative and governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Imo State has raised alarm at the systematic dwindling of the Africa’s economy.
He also lamented that Nigeria, apart from having the seventh economy worst in the world, also occupied the unenviable position of being the poverty capital of the globe.
This, he said, was thrice worse than that of India with a larger population, adding that five of every poor people in the world were Nigerians.
Amadi stated this at the presentation of the Nigerian Social Contract and Stakeholders Engagement to South-South and South-East Regions powered by the Omudodu Youths Foundation (aka Our Mumu Don Do Movement), a national re-awakening social movement focused on mobilising Nigerians, especially young men and women, to effect a social change in Nigeria.

Amadi, who gave the framework for governments to achieve social education, noted that the nation’s socio-economic and political instability could only be redressed through political process.
“Our politicians should have the courage to serve the people and every government is expected to serve the people because social contract is a way of empowering the people to police and to supervise the government and it is a service of consultation,” he added.
Nigeria, he said, had become the forth with the worst infant mortality rate, while her police had been rated the worst across the globe, hence the government had been failing.
Amadi described social contract as a collective document requiring collective action as well as a revolution, which the people should use to defend themselves.
While urging the incoming governments to depart from the ugly past through proven accountability, transparency, due process and rule of law, Amadi said the people seemed to have lost confidence and faith in the nation’s democratic process as, according to him, only 34.7 percent of the 72 million registered voters actually voted in the last elections.
