President Muhammadu Buhari has described the death of former Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi, as the end of an era.
Mourning the former leader who died recently at the age of 92, Buhari said the country had lost a father figure and that his passing would create a vacuum in the polity.
Essebsi, was the first democratically elected leader of Tunisia.
In a statement by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Saturday, the President commiserated with Tunisian and urged them to find encouragement and solace in the legacies of President Essebsi.
The statement said “His death marks the end of an era in the politics of Tunisia. The country has lost a father figure.
“The Nigerian government and people extend heartfelt condolences to his family, and the government and people of Tunisia.”
