Governor Udom Emmanuel’s prophesy of a landslide victory for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their World Cup qualifier encounter against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Friday came to past as the Eagles walloped their opponent by 4 – 0.
Governor Emmanuel made the prediction at a one day prayer meeting to mark the commencement of the state’s 30th anniversaryon Friday at Government House Banquet Hall.
Governor Emmanuel had prayed to God for an overwhelming victory for the Nigeria national team, saying that it was not a mere coincidence that the match coincided with the fasting which marked the 30th anniversary of the state.
“The last time I joined my faith with a Minister of God to pray for the Super Eagles, we won. Today I join my faith with that of Rev Paul Enenche who ministered here, and other fathers and grandfathers of faith here present to pray for the Super Eagles of Nigeria
“I believe out team will win with at least 2 – 3 goals margin. I invite all of us who are here who can make it to the stadium, to come and watch the match free. I must be seen to be patriotic in national issues,” he had said.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State, the governor prayed for the peace, togetherness, progress, protection and prosperity of Akwa Ibom State as it clocked 30.
Reminding the worshippers of the significance of the state’s 30th anniversary, he said 30 years was a period of impact and manifestation of God’s love.
According to him, at 30 she state was ready to take the lead as a bright star that would shine for the entire country.
“Let me tell us something here, with what we have done today, there is no more room for negative impact in Akwa Ibom State.”
Condemning incessant sponsored campaigns of calumny against his administration, the governor warned: “Let those who are out for mischief, let those who are out to do things that do not glorify God be mindful because there is no more room for negative impact in the state.”
The governor rallied the Christian community to continually pray for the sustenance of the state and advised against mischief and blackmail against the state government.
They governor advised: “The bible says for those who honour me, I will honour, for those who despise me shall be lowly esteemed. Let people be aware of this, those who despise God’s enthronement, those who despise God’s authority – oh I pity you.”
He used the occasion to offer some bags of garri from the state cassava processing plants as the first fruits from the state garri project scheme.
He launched same into the market.
“One of the things I promised is to make food available for Akwa Ibom people. We said that we will try and bring down the cost of garri for Akwa Ibom people. We are planting everywhere. This is the first batch of the Dakkada Garri we are producing,” he said.
“As we do this today, in line with this prayer conference, may this make abundance of food in our state in Jesus name,” he prayed.
The governor was accompanied by his wife, Martha Emmanuel; deputy governor, Moses Ekpo, Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Onofiok Luke, and Chief Judge, Godwin Abraham, among other dignitaries.
Speaking at the occasion, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Rev Dr Paul Enenche, who spoke from Isaiah 60:1 noted that every nation or state needed the light of God in all spheres of her endeavour.
Speaking on the significance of 30, Enenche encouraged Akwa Ibom people that at 30, positive great manifestations was by the corner, and Akwa Ibom would take the centre stage in the nation and in the world.
