Son of late maximum ruler and governorship candidate of the Advance Peoples Democratic Alliance, APDA, in Kano State, Mohammed Abacha, has promised to deliver at least two million votes in the state for President Muhammadu Buhari who is seeking re-election.

Abacha, made the promise on Monday as he publicly endorsed Buhari, the All Progressives Congress’, APC, presidential candidate for a second term in an address to newsmen at his campaign office on Maguwa Road, Kano.

He was represented by the Chairman of the APDA in the state, Bashir Bataya.

Recall that the national body of the APDA had earlier declared its support for the Buhari’s re-election bid.

Abacha said his decision to support Buhari was based on his achievements since he assumed office in 2015.

He said; “The APDA in its search for a torchbearer for this great nation, has found Buhari as a man of integrity, transparency and he is incorruptible.

“We have noticed tremendous improvement in the area of security in Nigeria, especially in the North-East. Again, the stability in our economy and agriculture is a thing of joy. The home-grown feeding programme has generated millions of job opportunities and improved the consumption of local farm produce. When you consider the nation’s economic situation between 2014 and 2015, with the present situation, you will see that the country has largely improved.

“On capital projects, the Buhari government has completed and is still working on several abandoned projects across the country, especially road projects.”

Meanwhile, the Gov. of Katsina state, Aminu Masari has reiterated that the promised three million votes for the President’s re-election was still intact in spite of the postponement.

Masari told State House correspondents in Katsina on Monday that the APC rally of last Thursday was a clear indication that the people would deliver on their three million votes for Buhari/Osinbajo ticket.

Katsina is the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Katsina people are ready; you saw it. If you were here on Thursday (rally) you would know Katsina people are ready and prepared for these elections. The postponement will not change anything, it will not change the position of Katsina state.

“We were ready two days ago. I believe those of you who were in Katsina since on Wednesday or Thursday you would have seen that we were more than ready as far as the elections is concerned,’’ he said.

Expressing concern over the postponement of the elections almost at the last minute by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the governor noted that given the way elections have held in the country, the postponement did not surprise him but said; “I hope INEC does not develop a culture of shifting dates of elections.’’

He noted that it was unfair to shift the blame of the postponed elections on President Buhari, stressing that INEC, as an independent body should be held responsible for its action.
