Former Minister of State for Works and member of the All Progressives Congress, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, has lambasted Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.
He alleged that the governor promoted no fewer than 46,000 workers in the state in order to get their votes for his deputy, Kolapo Olusola, in the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State.
Describing Fayose as confused and frustrated, Adeyeye said the governor was not discreet about his actions.
He, however, said the people of the state could no longer be deceived as the reason behind the action had become obvious.
According to Adeyeye, it did not make sense that the governor who had not paid the salaries of the workers for the past eight months could suddenly promote them.
The statement reads: “Fayose is confused, desperate, and frustrated at the moment. His recent actions show that he is not his usual confident and braggart self.

“He recently promoted 46,000 workers in one clear swoop, in order to entice the workers in the state to vote for his anointed candidate.
“He is not even making any attempt to cover up his tracks. He did not even bother to dress it up, from the political gimmick that it is. The act was purely an election gimmick, and he is not even bothered about people knowing that it was a political charade.
“Everybody knew it was a political gimmick, it shows his level of desperation. These are workers he has not paid for eight months now and he has been going round to collect and clone their PVCs in the Government House.”
Adeyeye accused Fayose of giving out N1.5 million and rice to teachers in each of the schools to win their support in the election.
He said ironically, he had neglected the schools since he came to office.
He said another gimmick of the governor was the announcement of 2000 employment opportunities.
Adeyeye said coming barely a few weeks before the governorship election, it was apparent that it was a mere deceit.
Adeyeye added: “He has not and cannot do local government campaigns because he has nothing to point out to, as his achievements in those areas.”
