Security will be tightened across the country in order to ensure a hitch-free muslim festival, Eid-el-Kabir.

The celebration holds across the country on Tuesday.

Already, Tuesday and Wednesday have been declared public holiday by the Federal Government.

In a statement issued by the spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, Jimoh Moshood, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris had ordered the provision of adequate security.

Moshood said Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and Commissioners of Police in zonal and state commands nationwide would be on ground to ensure security at prayer grounds on the day of the celebration.

Additional personnel and crime prevention and detection equipment, he said, would be deployed to cover identified and perceived criminal black spots and flash points.

“The ongoing raid operations and removal of suspected criminals will continue throughout the Sallah period and beyond,” he said.

Recreation centres, public places and critical infrastructure and public utilities would also be secured throughout the period.

So also are the highways and major roads throughout the country.

Moshood said however that the security personnel that would be on duty had been directed to be civil, polite, compassionate, but firm in the discharge of their duties.
