As Muslims mark the Eid-EI-Fitir celebrations following the completion of their Ramadan fast, Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, Garba Mukaddas has ordered the deployment of adequate Police Officers across the state to ensure a peaceful celebration.
A press statement sign by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Catherine Anene, stated that Police Officers have been deployed to provide security on streets and all entry and exit points within the State during Eid-el-Fitir celebration.
The CP warned religious bodies and owners of event centres against opening of worship centres and other public places affirming that Benue State Government has reversed its decision to reopen worship centres, markets and public places.
The Commissioner who stated that the Command is committed to enforcing provisions that are made to secure lives and property called on the good people of Benue State to be law abiding and report suspicious activities to the Police.

The statement also read in part, “Members of the public are advised to be security conscious, be familiar with the environment and not accept rides offered by strangers. Also to employ all available security measures to stay safe.”

He further enjoined Muslim faithful to observe COVID-19 preventive measures such as washing of hands with soap, wearing of face masks, use of alcohol based hand sanitizers among others.
