Four policemen involved in the raid of the residence of elder statesman, Edwin Clark, have been ordered arrested along with their informant.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, gave the order.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jimoh Moshood, the officers carried out the raid without approval.

His words:  “The Inspector General of Police has directed the detention and investigation of the Four (4) Police personnel and the informant involved. The outcome of the investigation will definitely be made public.

“Notwithstanding, the facts that on daily basis the Nigeria Police Force across the country receives information from members of the public which were promptly used to prevent and detect crimes and criminalities, the Force will not condone misconduct by any of its personnel that can run contrary to the rule of law.”

The Abuja residence of the Ijaw leader, Clark, was raided in the afternoon of Tuesday by the policemen.

They claimed to be searching for arms alleged to have been kept in his residence.

The search which lasted about one hour, however, did not yield any fruit as no arm was recovered.
