Don’t Share Offensive Posts On EndSARS Protests On Social Media- Koffi Tha Guru

Koffi Tha Guru, a popular Nigerian comedian, has appealed to Nigerians not to escalate the tension in the country over the ongoing #EndSARS protest by youths through posting of offensive posts on social media.

Tha Guru made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos in respect of various videos, messages and pictures being circulated by some protesters online.

He said that such posts would rather do more harm than good as the protests have resulted to unpleasant developments such as loss of lives and damages of properties in Lagos and other states.

“It’s rather unfortunate that the #EndSARS peaceful protests have degenerated to this unpleasant situation, but it is very necessary that everyone toe the line of peace to calm the whole tension.

“We understand that lives have been lost and property damaged.

“But, it is not in our best interest and nation at large to be sharing provoking videos, messages and pictures of bitterness around.

“The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, have addressed people of Lagos this morning, pleading to the #EndSARS protesters to calm down, with promises to handle the situation toward normalcy,” he said.

The comedian expressed condolences to the families and individuals that were affected in one way or the other in the course of the Oct. 20 #EndSARS protest mayhem.

According to him, let us focus on our eventual plan toward a better Nigeria, peaceful nation, unity in progress and diffuse the tension on air now and don’t increase the tempo.

He also decried the act of some suspected hoodlums, who were taken the advantage of the #EndSARS protests to destroy government and individual properties.
According to him, some of the property destroyed include: the BRT Bus Terminals, government and private media houses, shopping complexes and breaking into private shops.

“The hoodlums have hijacked these protests, destroying things, this is very bad and unacceptable.

“Because, it will affect the general economic activities in Lagos and other states with similar experience,” Tha Guru said.
