The Delta state government has flagged off the year 2020 edition of the anchor borrowers wet season Cassava farming, an initiative of the Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN).
With this development, small holders farmers in Delta state have been given more reasons to rejoice under the Stronger Delta agenda of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration
Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Julius Egbedi, who spoke to Journalists on Monday in Asaba, explained that the state government was Committed to ensuring food for all in 2020.

The Commissioner disclosed that in the Coming weeks, a new initiative from the CBN , the Five-Star Cassava Project which targeted the establishment of Cassava farms on 5,000 hectares of land across the state, would be rolled out to further better the lot of farmers in the Country as well as improve the food security in the state.
He commended CBN for its role in reviving the Agriculture in the Country even as he charged participating farmers to take the initiative seriously so as to fully access the major benefits of the initiative adding that the process would enhance the farmers productive in the state.
Present at the Ceremony were the Acting Head of the Development Finance Office, Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) Asaba branch, Mr. Elias Nworie, the Chairman, Nigeria Cassava Growers Association (Delta state Chapter), Obie Helen and representatives of Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Cooperation and NIRSAL Microfinance Bank.
