Lawmaker representing Ojo Constituency 1 at Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Victor Akande, has advised former Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State and his supporters to learn to manage their present challenges and stop looking for who to blame.
Akande told THE NEXT EDITION on Thursday that it was absurd for supporters of the former governor to insinuate that the protesters who besieged Lagos State House of Assembly complex, requesting the probe of former governor were sponsored.
The lawmaker said it was possible that the former governor stepped on some toes while he was in charge, but maintained that no leader of the party in the state would condescend so low as to want to sponsor protesters to request his probe.
He asked rhetorically if the camp was also fingering anyone for his problem with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He said: “I will advise the former governor to devise means of handling his present challenges. No leader of the party sponsored any protesters. Social media can be a source of bad journalism and when I had my ordeal, I was able to manage it.
“It is the same advice that I will give to the former governor to devise means to handle his challenges. I remember during his aspiration to return for second term and we (lawmakers) were said to have endorsed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a lot of controversial issues were also raised.
“It is some of the challenges that one can face in public office. Let him concentrate on solution rather than try to finger anyone.”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain said the protesters as Lagosians had a right to ask questions as to the management of the state resources, as they had just pointed out that they were tax payers and deserved accountability as to the activities of the former governor while in office. They did not need to be sponsored to do that.
