The search for the missing students of Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, was intensified on Tuesday with the National Security Adviser, NSA, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd) directly involved.
He was in the company of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, and the Theater Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj.-Gen. Nicholas Rogers and other senior military officer.
The search took them to the Nigeria-Niger border area.
After the search, Monguno visited the Governor of Yobe State, Ibrahim Geidam, where he gave details of how much the security forces were trying to ensure the safe return of the girls.
His words: “In spite of the harsh weather, the Nigerian Air Force has so far conducted 20 sorties and a total of 200 hours of flying time, in search of the schoolgirls.
“The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) is directly relating with security agencies and cooperating with other contacts across the border, while the situation room has been expanded to intensify the search for the girls.”

Governor Geidam who thanked the federal government for its efforts said more should be done to put an end to Boko Haram insurgency.
He also stressed the need to ensure security in all the schools in the state to prevent a reoccurrence.
No fewer than 110 students of the school in Dapchi were abducted by terrorists on February 19.
Efforts have since been intensified to bring back the girls but no luck has been recorded.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, was reported to have relocated to Yobe on Tuesday to oversee the rescue efforts.
