IHS Towers, one of the largest provider of mobile telecoms infrastructure in Africa, Europe and the Middle East, has identified with the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration as the organisation distributed 9,000 bags of foodstuff to the vulnerable.
This is coming as part of measures to cushion the effect of the lockdown order occasioned by the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world.
Receiving the food palliatives, which was done in collaboration with Nigeria Red Cross Society, Ogun State branch in Abeokuta, Secretary to Ogun State Government, Mr.Tokunbo Talabi, represented by the State Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter Governmental Affairs, Barrister Femi Ogunbanwo, maintained that the present administration was appreciative of the gesture.
He said the government also appreciated several supports and contributions from corporate bodies , religious organisations and public spirited individuals towards making life better and more bearable for the people at this trying period.

“On behalf of the governor and the good people of the state, I will like to thank IHS for providing the food palliatives for our people, and the Nigeria Red Cross in assisting to distribute to the vulnerable and poor amongst us in the society, particularly at these period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I would like to use these medium to extend our sincere appreciation to IHS Towers, and other corporate organisation, religious bodies and public spirited individuals of good intention have been supporting the state in these challenging period,” he maintained.
Speaking also, Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Investment, Mr. Dimeji Belo, noted that the gesture by IHS was a clear demonstration of a high level of commitment to the plight of the people by reaching out to the vulnerable and less privileged in six different local council areas of the state.
He added that the gesture was meant to preach love, oneness and show utmost concern to the plight of less privileged ones during the restriction order on COVID-19 pandemic affecting nations of the world.
Explaining the modalities for distribution, Executive Branch Secretary of Nigeria Red Cross Society, Ogun State branch, Mr. Aboyade Oluwole, commended IHS for its kind gesture and the confidence reposed in the Nigeria Red Cross to help with the distribution of the palliatives to the people in six selected localities each in Abeokuta North, Ado/Odo Ota, Ijebu-ode, Yewa South, Obafemi Owode and Sagamu local government areas of the state.
Food palliatives presented to benefitting homes include bags of rice, beans, gari, flavourings, indomie and spaghetti.
