As part of the drive to cushion the negative effects of the COVID-19 on Deltans, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has decided to readjust the 2020 budget to augment provsions for agriculture, low income families and vulnerable people.

Okowa, who disclosed this through his official twitter handle @IAOkowa on Saturday, said decision to readjust the 2020 budget was to see how the effects of the COVID-19 could be cushioned for low-income families.

He stated that the state’s 2020 budget would be readjusted to improve funding for the agriculture sector and other programmes for vulnerable groups.

The Governor said: “To cushion the effects of COVID-19 on low income families, we will readjust the 2020 budget to improve funding for the agricultural sector and social investment programmes.”

He stressed that the current budgetary provisions for skills acquisition programmes for vulnerable groups would be augmented.
