An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting at Ibadan on Thursday remanded a 27-year-old man, Mustafa Afeez, at the Agodi Correctional Centre, Ibadan, for the alleged murder of a two and half year’s old girl in Ibadan.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Serifat Adesina, who did not take the plea of the defendant, ordered that he be remanded pending advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and adjourned the matter until Oct. 7, for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Olalekan Adegbite, who arraigned the defendant on a charge of murder, told the court that the defendant had on July 30, allegedly unlawfully caused the death of a minor.
“Mustapha was alleged to have thrown her into the Omi river, Ahoyaya area, Olodo, in Ibadan.

“The child was alleged to have been missing in the area, before her body was found in the river the next day,’’ Adegbite said.
He said the defendant, who resides at Olodo area in Ibadan, committed the alleged crime on July 30, at about 9p.m at Ahoyaya area, Olodo, Ibadan.
The police Sergent said the offence contravened Section 316 and is punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
