The senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Buruji Kashamu, has been directed to submit himself to the police for investigation over a case of alleged attempt to murder a member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Oladipupo Adebutu.
Adebutu represents Ikene/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State.
The verdict was handed down by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.
Giving the verdict in the suit filed by Kashamu, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba directed the senator to answer invitations by the police over the allegation of attempted murder of Adebutu as contained in his (Adebutu’s) petition to the police.
The judge however warned the police not to abuse the opportunity of the verdict.
According to Dimgba, it would be illegal for security agencies or the Department of State Services to capitalise on the investigation to arrest, imprison him or transport him to the United States of America to face illicit drugs charges.
It would be recalled that Adebutu petitioned the Inspector General of Police alleging that Kashamu, along with some thugs had plotted his murder during the convention of the Peoples Democratic Party in Port Harcourt, Rivers State in 2016.
Kashamu, however, in a counter petition alleged that Adebutu was prodding the police and the DSS to arrest and transport him to the US to face charges bordering on illicit drugs.
