Buhari gives cash reward to D’Tigress

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Abuja rewarded  the D’Tigress players and officials for winning the 2017 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket tournament in Mali and qualifying for the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Spain.

While each of the players got N1million, the officials were given N500,000 each.

The president who announced the reward received the team shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

He urged the team to remain focused and win the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Spain.

Speaking at the occasion, the Minister of Sports, Mr Solomon Dalung, said the victory of the team was as a result of the reforms carried out by his ministry.

He gave the assurance that his ministry would bring back the winning spree that the nation was known for in the world of sports.

The D’Tigress defeated the defending champion, their Senegalese counterparts, 65-48 points to come first in the championship.

Throughout the tournament, the D’Tigress was not defeated.
