Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Udo Ekpenyong, is dead.

He died on Monday, January 18, 2021.

An unofficial source through a phone call broke the news to the The Next Edition today, Tuesday, January 19.

The Edition learnt from a very reliable source that the state Governor,  Udom Emmanuel, had two Sundays ago called for prayers on behalf of the PDP Chairman who was said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed isolation Centre in Uyo, the state capital.

Until his death, Mr. Ekpenyong, was the state PDP chairman whose election took place last year.

He was also the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the state.

Mr. Ekpenyong was said to be one of the closest persons to the Governor of Akwa Ibom state.
