The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, has been declared winner of the Imo State Governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Mr. Ihedioha, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, scored 273, 404 votes, to beat his closest rival, Mr. Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance (AA), who scored 190, 364 votes.

Declaring Mr. Ihedioha winner, the State Returning Officer, Prof. Francis Otunda, said he has satisfied all requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes.
