BREAKING: Buhari chairs Security Council meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday presided over the National Security Council meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

It is the first time he would be presiding over the meeting since he arrived the country on Saturday after over 100 days on medical vacation in London.

In attendance at the meeting were Nigeria’s military chiefs, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of Army staff, Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar; Chief of Naval Staff, Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as well as the Inspector General of Police.

The meeting, it is believed would give the security chiefs the opportunity to give the president updates on the security situation in the country and the strategies being adopted.

It would be recalled that on Monday in his nationwide broadcast, the president harped on the need to ensure the security of lives and property< among other things.
