Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and former Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, has arrived Akwa Ibom State ahead of his planned defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC, from the People Democratic Party, PDP.

He was away in London where he was reported to have met with President Muhammadu Buhari over his defection plan.

He was received at the airport in Akwa Ibom by a mammoth crowd made up of his supporters and the people of the state in general

News of his planned defection has been making the rounds in the past few days.

He was reported to have met with some top chieftains of the APC, particularly President Muhammadu Buhari, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Yemi Osinbajo.

Akpabio is considered to be a big fish which compensates for the loss suffered by the APC through the defection of some legislators to other opposition parties.
