Bomb Explosion In Ebonyi Shatters Student’s Hand

There was panic in parts of Ebonyi State on Thursday as an object suspected to be an improvised explosive device, IED, exploded at Glory Land High School, Azugwu, in Ebonyi Local Governement Area of the State.

The device which exploded during break hour, according to reports, shattered the left hand of an SS 2 student and injured an undisclosed number of students.

The student who lost his hand was identified as Chibuike.

The Next Edition gathered that the incident occurred at about 11a.m.

The paper also gathered that Chibuike was rushed to the emergency unit of the Alex–Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki while those with minor injuries were received treatment at nearby hospitals.

Police spokesman, Loveth Odah, who confirmed the incident, said however, that she was yet to get official report from the DPO of Eke-Aba Police Station on the incident.

“The DPO has gone there, but he has not reported to us. So we are still waiting for him” she said.
