Several members of the terrorists group, Boko Haram, were on Friday killed by troops of the Nigerian Army in the battle that occurred at Zari Village in Guzamala local government areas of Borno State.

This was made known by the Deputy Director, Public Relations, Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole, Col. Onyeama Nwachukwu.

According to him, arms were also recovered.

The Next Edition, however, could not verify the claims.

The insurgents, Nwachukwu reported, were repelled by the troops of 2 Division Task Force Battalion deployed in the area.

He disclosed that the troops swooped on the insurgents who were looting the village and extorting money from them.

The land troops of Operation Lafiya Dole were closely supported from the air by soldiers of the Air Task Force.

Nwachukwu said normalcy had since been restored in the village and other communities around.

The land soldiers were said to have been reinforced to conduct more robust fighting patrol in the general area.

Said Nwachukwu:  “The people of Guzamala and Mobar communities and indeed the entire good people of Borno are urged to remain calm, resilient and supportive of Operation Lafiya Dole troops as they relentlessly fight terrorism and insurgency in the North-East.”
