No fewer than 3, 729 troops of Operation Lafiya Dole who participated in Operation Deep Punch II in Sambisa Forest have been promoted.

The approval was given by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai.

According to a statement issued by Brig.-Gen Texas Chukwu, on Thursday, the promotion was to compensate for the valour and uncommon commitment of the soldiers to duty during the operation.

He explained that 223 Staff Sergeants were promoted to Warrant Officers, 511 Sergeants to Staff Sergeants, while 994 Corporals were promoted to the rank of Sergeants.

Also, 1064 Lance Corporals are promoted to Corporals, while 932 Private soldiers were promoted to Lance Corporals.
