About 40 members of the terrorists group, Boko Haram, have expressed their willingness to surrender to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Borno State.
The terrorists made their intention known through an intermediary to the NSCDC.
The Commandant of the corps in the state, Ibrahim Abdullahi, who made this known on Wednesday disclosed that a firewood vendor was the intermediary.
According to him, six insurgents had earlier surrendered to the Corps in the last one month in the state.
The terrorists, he explained, surrendered voluntarily under the federal government’s Safe Corridor Initiative(SCI).
It would be recalled that many of the insurgents have been surrendering in recent time to the military.
Those who have surrendered are being taken care of under the Safe Corridor Initiative.
Efforts are also made to de-radicalise them.
Some of them had confessed that they were forced to surrender following persistent military bombardment of the terrorists group lately.
