The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Samuel Ortom, is currently leading in the Saturday supplementary election held in Benue state.
Our correspondent reports that the election took place in all the 23 Local Government Areas, LGAs, of the state and from the results of the 16 LGAs so far announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Samuel Ortom has won in 12 while the All Progressives Congress, APC, has won in four.
The results announced by the returning officer, Sabastian Maimako, indicated that Ortom has so far secured a total of 9433 votes while Emmanuel Jime of the APC scored a total of 6420 votes.
The result indicates that Ortom is leading with a margin of 3013 votes.
INEC adjourned Collation of results after collating results of 16 Local Government Areas.
