Ahead of the supplementary elections rescheduled to take place on the March 23 in some parts of Benue state, stakeholders have called on Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to resist attempts of being used to carry out a hatchet job.
The Deputy Chief Whip of Benue state House of Assembly, Dr Adoga Onah, representing Oju 1, State Constituency, and member representing Tiev State Constituency in Vandeikya local government, Dominic Ucha made the call in Makurdi while speaking to the Next Edition in different interviews.
Dr. Onah condemned some of the activities that took place in the last governorship and state assembly elections where voting in some polling units and wards in about 15 local governments areas were cancelled especially where the PDP was leading.
The deputy chief whip expressed hope that as the state goes into the supplementary election on Saturday, INEC will provide a level playing ground and would not be seen helping the opposition to carry out its plans to force their way against the will of the people.

He called on the electoral body to allow the people to make their preferred choice, stating that the PDP currently enjoys a comfortable lead which the APC will find difficult to manipulate no matter the federal might.
He noted that the Benue people have decided that they want to vote the PDP insisting that no amount of tricks will change that.
Onah thanked the Benue people for their massive support to the PDP and Governor Samuel Ortom through their thumb in the last election just as he encouraged those in the areas where the rerun will be holding to solidify the victory of the party on Saturday.
Similarly, the member representing Tiev State Constituency in Vandeikya local government, Dominic Ucha called on INEC to give a level playing for all candidates and allow the people to vote without anyone being intimidated.
Ucha, who said they were not afraid of the federal might being paraded around by the opposition, stated that “in Benue, the people’s might is what matters and at the end of Saturday’s election, the will of the people will prevail.”
He noted that all Benue people were prepared to defend their votes not minding the speculation that the opposition was planning to use federal might.
Ucha, whose LG is participating in the rerun called on his people to come out enmass and cast their vote peacefully to consolidate the victory of the PDP.
