Benue State Police Command has arrested a School teacher, one Terseer Maikyo in Ukum Local Government Area for raping his student.
The Police also arrested 22 others for sundry crimes including one Nelson Omanka of Obi Local Government Area for rapping a 12 year old child.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Mukaddas who disclosed this in a press statement signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Catherine Anene, said the suspects confessed to the crime and have been charged to court.
The CP said within the last three weeks, the Police have continued to intensify efforts towards the fight against crime just as they have deployed officers to strategic points to enable them foil kidnap and robbery attempts among other crimes.
He noted that following reports about kidnap incidents at Katsina-Ala and Ukum Local Government Areas of the state, police teams were deployed to the area for investigation leading to the arrest of one Sani Yusuf and Aminu Abdulahi all of Tor-Donga, Kastina-Ala Local Government Area.
He said they were arrested in Kastina-Ala town and in possession of two vehicles that have been burnt beyond recognition and reduced to scrap for transportation to an unknown destination. Investigation is still in progress.

He also said one Benjamin Tarkaa, Igyo Basil, Ikyo Isaac and Joshua Orga all of different addresses in Vandeikya Local Government Area were also arrested following information received about their involvement in kidnap cases.
He also revealed that between 30/09/2019 and 17/10/2019, the Command arrested at different locations, one Jacob Iorkyaa and Asor Samuel all of Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area with one locally made pistol while Suleiman Abdullahi of behind Diamond Bank North-Bank, Makurdi was arrested in possession of one locally made revolver pistol with an expanded 9mm ammunition, four rounds of live AK 47 ammunition and 126 wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian-Hemp.
According to him, five others; Lubem Tseer; Tertsea Ephraim, Peter Yaigh, Joseph Gyan and Aondaana Tarhembe of different addresses in Gboko town were arrested in their hideout with a single barrel gun, one cartridge and assorted charms. Their case has been charged to court.
One Nanen Targba, Gabriel Mbakighir, Aondofa Doaior, Aondohemba Torkwembe and Atsor Abeda all of various addresses in Buruku and Kastina-Ala Local Government Areas of Benue State were arrested in connection with robbery and kidnap cases along Ugbema/Adikpo road. Items recovered from them include; assorted phones and two Toyota Corolla vehicles.
Others arrested include one Emmanuel Williams and Ulem James of Fidel Polytechnic who were alleged to be responsible for the murder of one Fidelis; a student of University of Science and Technology Calabar, Cross-River State.
Williams and James were arrested by a team of detectives at Fidel Polytechnic, Gboko, where they took refuge. According to CP Mukaddas, two white and blue coloured axes, one matchet, a bottle of concoction, five handsets and wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian-Hemp were recovered from them. The police said investigation is still in progress.
